NGC Research Services

At NGC Research Services, we help researchers in Denmark gain access to the NGC Research Infrastructure, as well as read access to the Danish National Genome Database.

The Danish National Genome Center promotes the continued development of personalised medicine. Namely, we develop and operate a national infrastructure for research in personalised medicine. Our infrastructure consists of a high-powered supercomputer and custom cloud infrastructure system, which stores, processes and analyses large amounts of health data with the highest level of security. NGC also operates the National Genome Database.

Research projects that conduct scientific studies in collaboration with a Danish research institution, within the field of personalised medicine, and with a significant societal benefit, can apply for access to the National Genome Center’s Research Infrastructure through a private NGC Cloud.

Researchers can apply and gain access to NGC Research Infrastructure through a customized NGC Cloud. An NGC Cloud provides secure access and can be installed with numerous software packages and services, including tools for user and workload management, as well as programming languages (e.g. R and Python). The cloud can be configured to meet the needs of the individual research project.

You can safely store, process, and analyse sensitive personal data on an NGC Cloud. Only you and your research project colleagues can access your NGC Cloud.

The Danish National Genome Database stores citizens’ genetic information with the highest level of security.

Genetic data, gathered through research or treatment in the Danish healthcare system after July 1st 2019, must be reported to the Danish National Genome Center and stored in the National Genome Database.

In the future, researchers working within the field of personalised medicin will be able to apply for read access to data in the National Genome Database

Since data in the National Genome Database cannot leave the NGC Research Infrastructure, read access to data in the National Genome Database requires researchers to have access to an NGC Cloud.

It is not yet possible to gain read access to the Danish National Genome Database. We will publish an update on this webpage when we open up for researchers to apply for access.
