The Danish National Genome Center (DNGC) is excited to present an international session at the Annual Meeting on Personalised Medicine 2023. The session, which focuses on personalised medicine on the international stage, allows participants to gain insights into how Denmark collaborates with other countries and participates as a partner in projects across borders.

"Personalised Medicine on the International Stage" will take place on September 13th, 2023, from 1:00 PM to 2:10 PM as part of the Danish National Genome Center's Annual Meeting on Personalised Medicine.

Denmark is far from the only country with grand visions when it comes to the use of health data and the development of personalised medicine. Many other countries, for example Belgium, Finland, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany, France, and Sweden, also have initiatives and projects in this field.

”New personalised medicine is constantly being developed in Denmark and internationally. By facilitating knowledge-sharing across borders, DNGC aims at contributing to implementation of cutting-edge genomic medicine in health care.” - Lene Cividanes, Head of Section for Research & International Relations at the Danish National Genome Center

In this block, Matt Brown, the Chief Scientific Officer at Genomics England, will present experiences from Genomics England and enlighten us on how cross-border collaboration can benefit patients.

“As national genomics programs develop, sharing of learnings between programs can help greatly with optimising their ways of service delivery, including topics ranging from what tests to offer, how to best consent patients, questions around sequencing technology and analysis and computational engineering approaches, and how to best link research and clinical aspects. Data sharing between countries will increase equity by improving services across a diversity of ancestries, enable better diagnostics for rare diseases, and encourage clinical trials for rare diseases and cancer. These aspects all bring benefits to our patient communities.” - Matt Brown, Chief Scientific Officer at Genomics England

Grethe Synnøve Foss, Senior Adviser at the Directorate of Health, Norway, will enlighten us with her presentation of Norway's recent launch of a new national strategy for personalised medicine. Here, Norway's focus is on diagnosis, treatment, and prevention, and they are also striving to establish a national genome center.

“Cross-border collaboration is necessary to build the knowledge platform for implementing personalised medicine.” - Grethe Synnøve Foss, Senior Adviser at the Directorate of Health, Norway

This block provides an opportunity to learn from each other and benefit from the experiences gained by other countries. Participants will gain insights into differ-ent approaches, collaboration models, and the results achieved in these countries.
